You're listening to the Run for Your Lives Podcast.
SPEAKER_00Hey everyone, welcome to the show. I'm Daphne.
SPEAKER_01And I'm Pake.
SPEAKER_00And this is the Run for Your Lives Podcast.
SPEAKER_01This episode, I don't have a doc. So I I don't know what we're doing. No. Um I don't have a doc because we're not doing a movie. It's another uh chit-chat episode. And a couple of weeks ago, uh Daphne even posted on the Facebook letting you know that we would be recording this and ask for some questions and stuff like that. So I think we've got some of those sent in.
SPEAKER_00We do.
SPEAKER_01So, yeah, it's another it's been a very uh busy week for me in multiple different ways. And so sometimes, you know, we we like to take it easy on super busy weeks and still put out an episode, but uh when we don't have the time or brain space for all of the prep and notes and commentary, we just kind of hang out. We haven't done one this season yet, so we'll do our little chit-chat episode and just kind of catch up with what's been going on, what we've been up to, and then you know, we even have like listener questions and stuff to get to this time.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01A lot of fun.
SPEAKER_00Yes. I'm excited to answer some of these. But before we get to the questions, Pake, what have you been up to since I don't know, the last couple months? What what's what's been going on?
SPEAKER_01Oh god. Do I just be like fully like transparent? You know what? Because today's been really good on that front, yeah, I think I will. Um because yeah, I've uh you know what? This could get a little uh mushy or serious, I guess, but now that I'm like on the outside of it, I think things are good. So I'll I'll talk about it. Now I haven't talked about it online or anything with many people. Uh but since it's good news, and so it's a good reminder, it's a good PSA for people to take care of themselves and look at. I've been dealing with um a possible skin cancer uh scare for the past like three weeks to a month, where somebody pointed out to me uh a certain kind of mole freckle area that was a little abnormal that looked different that I hadn't really paid attention to. And so I went and got it checked out, and it was not good. Um, and had a couple little spots that I had to get biopsied and looked at, and then it was just the like between all the waiting for like appointments and waiting for test results to come back. It's been very stressful and been scary, honestly, just because like I've got quite a family history of cancer, and it's just one of those things where it's like, I have too many fun things coming up, I don't have time for cancer. Uh the big scary C word. But I got my as we're recording this, I got my biopsy results back today, just ow a few hours ago. And uh the main one that I was concerned about, like they they took an extra one just like as a precaution, it was benign, it was fine, like there's nothing to worry about with it. But the main one that I was concerned about was an issue waiting to happen, so I'm glad that I got it looked at. It was pre-cancerous, so it hadn't had a chance to spread or root anywhere where it could become fatal, and that's I so I I caught it in time, and I was able to be lucky, you know, you know, lucky enough to be quick enough on that one, and so I'm good. I don't have to have any kind of follow-up surgeries or treatments or anything, which is great. I was worried about that just kind of ruining my plans for the rest of the year. It's like you know, get in the back of your head, it's like, oh yeah, I had great plans for a music festival, but now I have to do chemo instead. Like that was gonna be shitty. So I'm glad I don't have to do that. And yeah, so I guess it's just to put that out there to be like, yay, good news for me, like people that can know what I've been going through, but then I can immediately give you the good news that like everything's clear. It was the biopsy took everything out that they were worried about, that medical, like that, like clinical, uh that medical that clinical margin, that medical uh of uh of stuff is was cleared and they they have no reason to worry about it. I already have appointments set up in the future to go back and check things up on a regular basis just so they can keep tabs on it. But as of right now, it was great to talk to my doctor today and just get the words like we're done. You don't need anything, you don't have to do anything else from here. We're good for now. Just come back at our checkup time is great. So that's the good news. But then also, yeah, a PSA for like stay on top of that stuff, because cancer, especially skin cancer, it's you know, I get the statistics people right here. Uh one in five people will get it by the age of 70. It's very, very common. And also, if you like me, we're lucky enough, if you catch it early enough, 99% survivable. So just make sure to stay on those things. Don't, you know. Because it's the people who don't pay attention or don't get things checked out that it gets too far along or goes too long. So there's my PSAs take care of yourselves. And if you have any questions about things like that, go get it looked at. Take the time. I know it sucks, medical stuff sucks, but it's worth it to uh be alive and be well. So I'm glad that I did that.
SPEAKER_00Yes. Um and I've known since you decided to go check into it, and it was the last thing I expected for you to tell me, and it was so it was such a relief to get the message earlier that everything is okay, and that when they did the biopsy, they got everything they needed to get.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_00Um It's crazy to think about mortality. Like I don't live in that headspace, but um I yeah.
SPEAKER_01I was gonna say I usually don't, but no, I I do. I've always just been kind of morbid like that. And it always it's like an an interesting balance because it's like 50-50. I s I go back and forth for it absolutely terrifying me and sending me down a panic spiral to the other half being like very open and okay and like curious about like that. Like so I'll make a recommendation. Uh, there's a YouTube series for Mythical Kitchen at Last Meals, um, with uh Mythical chef Josh uh hosting that, and he interviews a whole slew of different celebrities and stuff, but all based off of, you know, there are two things in life. We all gotta eat and we're all gonna die. So they talk about mortality, they talk about life, they talk about death, they talk about legacy, they talk about, you know, what is kind of purpose and what do you leave behind, and so they get into very deep conversations, but there's a lot of really cool celebrities and stuff he's had on there, and I've just been binge watching that show and th those interviews and stuff, and it's just so then while also kind of facing my own mortality while watching those and stuff, it runs it's like sometimes it's fucking terrifying, and then the other half it's like very like comforting, where it's just like Yeah, that's all life ends in death one way or another at one time or another, and we can't do anything about it, so you might as well try to take a like positive spin on it versus letting it absolutely like petrify you forever. But it's interesting, yeah.
SPEAKER_00It is what makes me think I need to live as much as I can every day and go and do the things that make me happy because you don't have a guarantee.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. For me, my dad passed away when he was a little bit younger than I am right now. And when I hit the age that he was when he died, it was not traumatic, but it really made me start thinking about one, how young he was when he died, and two, what do I want the rest of my life to look like? And I want to know that I've done everything I could to enjoy every day and embrace, you know, things that may not be as comfortable, you know, get out of my comfort zone a little bit. And I I'm not super adventurous, but I have in some ways, like with food, I've tried some different foods that I probably never would have tried before. It also doesn't hurt that Pake is a foodie, and whenever we're anywhere together in person, he always lets me try whatever. And so I've gotten a little more adventurous in that way. But yeah, I've had some health scares, and it's not fun. It is a terrifying thing when you think about, oh, what if this is it? And what are you supposed to do with that? Like you could sit back and wallow, or you could think about, no, I want to have as much fun as I can. And sometimes in conversation, it will come up, well, if you only had a day left, what would you do? I'm not really sure what I would do, but I would live as much as I could in that one day.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, exactly. That's you know, hearkening back to Yeah, Last Meals. I think one of my favorite ones, and it's not one of my favorite people that's been on that show, but it for some reason is one of my favorite episodes. But the comedian Andrew Santino was on there, and it will stick with me forever was his kind of his take on that, because he was talking about that similar thing. It was like taking opportunities to have experiences, to do things, say yes to adventures and opportunities and things in life. And his reasoning was because I'm dying. Eventually, we're all I'm gonna die, so I might as well, while I'm not dead, do the things that sound interesting and fun and take those opportunities and do those things. Don't be don't sit back and not do it because you're gonna die. So do the things. And exactly. Yeah, that's powerful. Honestly, it's simple that it's it's powerful.
SPEAKER_00That's why, too, that you and Jeff decided to go to Sick New World in Fort Worth. And it's a music festival. And I decided I was gonna have fear of missing out if I wasn't there. And my wallet has screamed at me about everything associated with that trip. But what's ended up happening is as you guys know, Jeff and Jerry and Pake and I do this podcast called Buffalo Buffalo. And so Jeff and Pake were going to the festival. What's happened is I got a ticket, I'm I'm gonna go too. Jerry's actually gonna come and hang out with us. He's not gonna go to the festival, but it's turned into like a five-day hangout for us.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's gonna be fun.
SPEAKER_00And yeah, I'm so excited because we haven't been together for a couple years since Galveston.
SPEAKER_01We'll get to record another live Buffalo episode from an Airbnb somewhere in Texas. So that'll be fun.
SPEAKER_00It's gonna be great. But again, it was me just sitting back and saying, how can I not go to this and just have this experience? Because I've never been to a music festival like this before. And two of my favorite people are gonna go. I really need to be there with them and go and have this fun because it will be a memory that I'll that I'll get to have and think back all these positive things about. So, because I know even though it hasn't happened, it's gonna be so much fun. So I know it's gonna be something I'm gonna look back on. And I think it's important to have those experiences. You have to live, you have to to try things that you might not have tried, or say yes to a concert you've wanted to go to, or uh an event somewhere, or just traveling to a country that you may not have visited before. Any of those things, it's not too late to like start figuring that into your life because again, we live in strange times and you just don't know what tomorrow's gonna bring. So I think it's really important to do that.
SPEAKER_01And as Peg said, get checked out because he did that, and this could I mean it's I didn't think there was anything wrong personally, but it was just lucky I had other people in my life that were like, you should do it, and I listened to them because honestly, I mean, if it wasn't for me deciding to like fine to appease the people, I was like, I'll go to the doctor, I'll get it looked at. If it wasn't for me doing that, like I it might this might have killed me. Like that might have been it if I let it go longer. So it's I'm I'm glad that I did that. It saved my life.
SPEAKER_00Um, I am too. I I'm just yeah, I'm thankful that you went and did that and that you're gonna be okay. It's interesting because the first question I'm gonna ask is one that Levi sent in. If your co-host died, what would your memorial episode look like? Now, Levi sent this in, and when they did, all I could think is, you do not know how, like the timing of the city.
SPEAKER_01What's happening for real right now? Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Like you have no idea. And all I could think is I'm not I was hoping you would get your results before we recorded this episode so that we could answer this, because otherwise I was not gonna put it in because I feel like it's just too close.
SPEAKER_01A little too real at the time.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yeah, so I don't know, Peg. Um if something happened. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Well, I'm gonna be real honest. For a memorial episode to be posted, I'd have to edit together and post something. So I don't know if that would exist. Because I'm bad at all that. I don't I would maybe put in the effort, but no promises on how great it would turn out if I did.
SPEAKER_00Yes, you're hearing it here first, folks. Or maybe I've said it in the past. Um, editing is uh my role, one of my roles on the podcast. Pate does a lot of the social media, I do the editing. Um so no, it it's not your strength. But I'm quite sure that you could work with our good friend Jeff and figure out something, maybe.
SPEAKER_01I don't even know if I have I wouldn't even know how to upload it to our things. And I couldn't, I wouldn't be able to ask you, hey, what's the password? So I don't know.
SPEAKER_00I know. Taking all of that out, which I I would be able to do all of those things, like upload and edit and make this beautiful thing. And um I you know, given everything we've just first talked about on here, I feel like it might be a little sappy because that's me when it comes to my friends. That's how I am. I I everything comes from the heart. Um I would probably just talk about how we have only been friends for six years, but I feel like it's been forever, and um, we just connected really well. And that doing this podcast really saved me from the pandemic because it did. Like it gave me a focus. And I think I've said that before, it really um helped me when things seemed like they were terrible. I mean, they were terrible, but it helped me really process through a time that was really dark. And I would probably talk about that, and I'd probably talk about how much fun and the laughing and the hours that we spent on here. And because it goes beyond the episodes. I mean, we've talked about it before. We when we jump on here, we don't just start recording, we end up talking like tonight. It was like for an hour over an hour about wrestling or something else. Like that's just what we do. If it's not before, then it's after, and sometimes it's before and after, depending on what may be going on. And I, you know, I'm just very grateful I would say that I'm very grateful that um that I met you and that we had this journey together on Run for Your Lives, because it's been a blast.
SPEAKER_01And you might finally decide to release my Greatest Hits album as well.
SPEAKER_00I might. I will I'm gonna edit it into a song with all the best bits along the way. But that's yeah, that's probably what I would do. I think that's what I would do.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I think I it would be very hard for me to do it because again, with what you just went through and and just waiting for the results from that, when I saw that question, I was just like, oh no, I'm not in a headspace for this because knowing that you were going through everything with a biopsy that just like no, I don't want to go in, I don't want to think about that. Um so yeah. I'd have to leave the password so Peg could could uh do an episode. I'd have to leave the password. I Jeff would have to help him, but I think I think he could pull it off, maybe, with a little help and a password. Maybe might be able to do it.
SPEAKER_01It would probably be just like a joint Buffalo and Run for Your Lives episode. So me, Jeff, and Jerry could get together and say all the really nice stuff about you that we won't actually say to you now on any of our episodes because we have to keep this like air of teasing you, and we you know, we have characters to play, we have to keep it kayfabe, but you know, then that would be our time to get to do that.
SPEAKER_00Oh god. And here's my public service announcement. Tell the people you care about them while you can, because that's another thing. Like, life is way too short and things happen.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. It was literally when I when I first had my i issues that I was starting with, where it was like you know, talking to my doctor, and then him being like, oh, this could be very serious. We need to get this test done, we need to do this, and this where there's that kind of air of like, it could be bad. Yeah, like not even just face mail, but immediately like really what I focused on and thought about the most were just the people that meant the most to me that I would want to make sure that I got to spend as much time with as I could.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. That's that's you know what it's about. You think about it. I mean, I play Tomodachi. Peg plays Tomodachi. They always have these random questions that pop up. And one of the ones recently was, what would you what would you do if it was your last day on earth? And the op they have options and things. And I always pick something that is about friends or like getting together with people, like it, that's what it's about. Um, they also had a funny question today that I got for the first time that was um, is it more important to have friends or fall in love? And I was just kind of like, okay. Um I picked have friends because I feel like friends can be with you forever. And that's a different kind of love. So what I've been up to for the last, I don't know, um, well, I was in Texas for you know I was there, silly. Um, I was in Texas for the Dallas Classic. I missed it last year because Peike and I went to All In, which was also in Dallas at the same time. And I actually got to take him to the ice rink to watch one event, which was cool. Um so I was in Dallas. That was super fun. We did cool stuff. Every day we were doing something different before the competition. And then I did the competition. I went to Lake Placid. My birthday was in July. So that was super fun. Been going to trivia. Watching a lot of wrestling. Like not too much, but a lot in person and on TV. So doing a lot of that. This month isn't too bad. I'm not really going anywhere. But next month I'm super excited because we're going to all be together, the four of us, in October for the music festival. And I'm so excited for that. Um but yeah, it's been really kind of chill. I took Rachel, my niece, to a wrestling event, which was super fun. She is really into it, and we just have a blast together. She's 10 years old and she loves to go. And so we got to do that. So I always look forward to that. But it's been kind, I mean, even though I traveled a bit, it's been kind of chilled. It hasn't been super intense. It's been nice. It will amp up again, but for now it's good. I'm happy with that. So let's go to another question. Um, who would win a fight to the death, Peak or Daphne? Oh boy.
SPEAKER_01But then the winner would then have to do the memorial episode.
SPEAKER_00I know, so I'm not okay with this. I don't want to fight Peak to the death. I'd want him on my side if I was fighting someone to the death, but I don't want to fight him. That is not something I want.
SPEAKER_01Maybe we'll have like a Texas death match.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that could be fun, but I I don't think I I want to do that. Like, I don't want to have a fight to the death. I don't want to have to be brutal. I can if I have to, but I don't want to.
SPEAKER_01You know, I'm just gonna love using the thumbtacks.
SPEAKER_00You will, but I'll be the one that puts them on the bottom of my sneakers. Yep. And maybe I'll get uh spike, which is a bat with nails in it. That'd be fun. But I don't want to do that to you. We can be a tag team against someone else.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00That we can do. That I would be wholeheartedly behind, but I don't want to fight you.
SPEAKER_01So whatever other podcast out there who wants to face me and Daphne in a Texas deat match, just let us know.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, let us know. We're we're ready to go. So, Peg, how many concerts have you been to so far? This is not a question anyone is asking about me. This year. This year. How many twenty six? Yes. And how many do you have left?
SPEAKER_01Tentatively, because some I haven't bought tickets to yet. But I'd have to go back and look. So that's this year. Let's see, one, two, three, four. And I'm counting, I'm just concerts, not other events and live shows. Five, six, seven, eight, nine. So far.
SPEAKER_00Nine so far. And how many do you have left?
SPEAKER_01And I have one next week. So next I have one, two, three, four, five, six, seven that I have tickets for. Counting the music festival that we were talking about earlier.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And then two more that I'm considering going to that I haven't bought tickets yet. So another nine, possibly.
SPEAKER_00Okay. So at least 16 concerts for the year. Maybe 18. Is this the most you've ever done in a year?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, definitely. I think so.
SPEAKER_00And here's a tough question. Which one has been the best that you've been to this year?
SPEAKER_01Whew. Yeah, that is tough, because it's they've all been really great for different reasons. Different reasons. There have been a lot of great performances. It just kinda yeah. Um could I pick which one has been the best? Overall? I don't know.
SPEAKER_00How about this? What are some that stand out?
SPEAKER_01Still I'm gonna be like, oh. I think uh the early November is one that if you would have given me all the shows I was going to this year on paper, would not be the one I would pick that I was going to be the one that like the band that I enjoyed their set the most. I think that's been my favorite band live so far this year.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01Alright. That's not one, because I wasn't even going for them. I was going for the band that was headlining. I was going, because I was they were touring with Hello Goodbye. I was going to see Hello Goodbye, early November opening for them, and I was like, I know like two songs, but they're there, you know, so I'm I'm aware of them. We'll see. They absolutely blew me away. Ace Anders is such an incredible like performer and great like I was like, okay, yeah, no, I would go see them again in a heartbeat. That was such a great set, such a great show. Um and then one of the more recent ones, Clipping, which is David Diggs uh project, was incredible live. What it just like is super cool. He's insane, so good. And then I got to like hang out with like his piano player, who I'm like a big fan of as well, and she's really cool, and then got to like meet and talk with David a little bit after the show as well, and that one was memorable, definitely, for sure.
SPEAKER_00Awesome. I am glad. Yeah, those are just the concerts because you also go to the comedy club a lot.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, done a lot of comedy shows, done a couple of like dropout improv things with dropout cast members, uh a bunch of wrestling stuff over the years. I do I try to stay I try to do a lot of fun things when I can't.
SPEAKER_00You do. You're very busy. When he's not podcasting, he's very, very busy. Um, which brings me to the next question. It's it's not a question, it's more from Catherine. I love updates about Riley's adventures. I assume that he's been to a few of the many concerts that Pakes attended.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah, I was thinking about that. I don't know how much I've already mentioned because I was like, I could go down like the list of yeah, like shows and stuff me and Riley have done together, but I'm sure I've mentioned them on here before in previous ones, but maybe not. So I'm like, maybe I'll go over it and it's like if I'm rehashing something you've already heard, then uh too bad. Uh you'll hear it again. Um but yeah, we have some some fun adventures. Uh so the most recent concert that I went to was just this weekend, as we're recording this, this last weekend, a couple days ago. Uh, and Riley was with me for that one. We went and saw Andy Grammer, which was great, especially in the midst of me having my biopsies just done a few days before that, and then like in that period of waiting with not an answer, and just kind of panicking and and in a lot of stress about that. It was the perfect concert for that time because I was like, this is what I need right now, is just a whole two-hour show of the most sickeningly sweet, positive songs I've ever heard in my life. Uh and Andy Grammar's what I needed at that time.
SPEAKER_00Um That's what happens sometimes, though. Like you need you need something to take you out of the headspace that you're in while you're waiting for news because it's not something you can control. And when you're waiting for something you can't control, it's even worse because you can't hurry it up, you can't do anything to make it come out quicker or to have a favorable result. You're just waiting, and waiting sucks. I'm a very impatient person, and so it drives me crazy when I'm having to wait for stuff, and so yeah.
SPEAKER_01So that was that was a good one. We had a good time with that. We've got two more coming up for this year that I'm doing with Riley. One next week. We're just going to crammed them like right here at the end of the year all together. But uh, we're gonna go see Jimmy Eat World next week. Uh, 25-year anniversary of Bleed American, so they're playing that album in its entirety, and I'm very excited about that. We've been listening to it a lot. Riley's stoked about that one, and then me and Riley, I'm also taking Riley to go see Gorillas in October.
SPEAKER_00That's so awesome.
SPEAKER_01Literally the week the weekend before the music festival that I'm going to with Daphne and Jeff and Jeff and Jerry's coming in town. Uh I have three shows in like three weekends in a row. Because yeah, there's the music festival, the weekend before that, I'm taking Riley to see gorillas, and the weekend before that one, I'm taking my dad to go see Foreigner.
SPEAKER_00So I love that so much. I love that bonding experience you're gonna have with your dad. It's gonna be so fun.
SPEAKER_01So that'll be really fun. Uh, but then yeah, I think that's it for Riley. Try to three is a lot kind of for like big concerts because he gets very uh overwhelmed and anxious with those those sometimes. And so kind of pick and choose. So we're we're branching out, we're trying three big ones kind of close together and seeing how he does with it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I'm excited for you because I I got to see Riley when I was in Texas. It was great to get to see him. Uh we've done some show. Such a cool dude.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we've done some great shows together. We uh last year we did three really close together too. Uh August, September, and October, also, I think.
SPEAKER_00Uh Yeah. You did 21 Pilots.
SPEAKER_01We did 21 Pilots. I took him to see them, which is like my favorite band, and I always like to kind of lovingly give him a little shit because I'm like, I've seen them seven times. This was your first time to see them, and you got a high five from Tyler Joseph, the lead singer, and I still haven't. Like, what makes you special, right? Why did you get a high five from him on your first time seeing them? And I've seen him like seven times and still nothing. No.
SPEAKER_00Uh it's so great.
SPEAKER_01I'm glad he did. Uh that was a really cool thing. And then before that, we went and saw Fits in the Tantrums, which was a fun show.
SPEAKER_00The venue for that one was cool, right?
SPEAKER_01I love that venue. It's the same venue I saw early November uh this year. Uh I try to go to to shows there whenever I can, which is why I might try to go see Necrogoblicon, which I've already seen once this year.
SPEAKER_00This year, not just once. I've seen them once this year.
SPEAKER_01This will be the second time this year to see them on another tour. But because they're playing that venue and it's literally the day before Daphne and Jeff and Jerry fly in for the other thing. It's like, well, I might as well just go ahead and be in town and like I'll go to that show and then get a hotel and then pick them up at the airport the next afternoon. Like, might as well. RDB in Dallas. So I might do that one, and that venue is awesome. Uh, but I think the coolest one is I got to mark uh you know knock off one of my bucket list things that I've wanted to do forever. I've always, as a big music person, I've always wanted to go to a show at Red Rocks in Colorado. And it's just an incredible venue built right into the mountains there, and it's just the coolest view, and so I've always wanted to do it. So uh last year I did finally get to go to a show at Red Rocks, and not only did I get to knock it off my bucket list and be there and finally make it happen, but to have Riley also be there with me and him get to experience that also was really cool. We went and saw Gracie Abrams, she put on an incredible show. Uh, so that's gonna be like that's a like memory for the rest of my life thing. That's a huge one that I will hold forever.
SPEAKER_00You had such a great time, and so much that we've talked about doing a Buffalo meetup in Denver so that we can go to a concert together there. Yes. The four of us. But I should say that the four of us have different music tastes. So it's gonna be interesting to see if we can find something that will work for the four of us, but it's definitely something that we've talked about.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00To go to Denver.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01So Riley loves the the trips. A couple of years ago, we went and saw Weezer together. He loves Weezer, as do I. So that was a really cool one. He had a blast with that show. So that one was really cool. And you know, Dallas is a good two hours to two and a half hours, depending on what part that they're you're in. Uh drive. So him going on those trips, he loves the road trips. I mean, we drove all the way to Colorado and back, it was a 13-hour drive, and he we we don't fly. We with him, we drive. So he loved that. But yeah, so even driving, like the Andy Grammar one was only an hour away, but he likes the drives, so we like to do like drive back at night, and then he This is this is just between me and Riley kind of thing that it's like the little things, you know, the little things that give you joy. If it's just me and him riding like at night, like back roads for hour, two hours. It's the little things that I'll remember. Is like he gets impatient, but not in a like annoying way. You can just tell he's like constantly wondering like how much further do we have. And so I use my GPS on my phone, just as we're like going home, and I will find him just staring at it. And then so I have to grab my phone and I will show him the screen. I was like, that's the with the route we're on, that's how much we have. And then I'll be like, Does that look good to you? And he just gives the most like ecstatic, like big like headshake. Yes, and I'm like, okay, cool. And then I constantly like every 15 minutes have to check back with him, okay, how's that look? And he gets all excited, yeah, and I'm like, okay, we're making good time. And it's just a little thing like that that I love.
SPEAKER_00It's awesome. It's so awesome. You guys have such fun adventures together. You're always doing something cool. You're always making sure that Riley gets to experience everything. And it's just super fun. You're such best buds. It's amazing. So here are some more questions. What is the greatest thing you have ever done for another human being? Some of these are very deep, I would say. One I can't talk about because I did something really cool at work and it hasn't come out yet, so I can't say anything about it. But I did something with that. Um I like to think that some of the stuff I do in the skating communities is good because I'm basically volunteering most of the time to promote the athletes within the ice dance world. In addition to my photography, I also run a website and it promotes ice dance, it promotes teams, we do interviews. Um and I've been doing that for half my life. And I, you know, I still follow some of the kids. They're not kids anymore. They're grown up, they have kids of their own, they're doing different things, they're living their lives. Some are doctors, some are dentists, you know, the lawyers, like they're just all doing their thing. And for that period of time, I tried to be the support by promoting them and making sure that people knew who they were, even if they weren't the top teams in the world. Um everyone brings something to the table. Um I yeah, I don't know. I I like to think maybe I think maybe the best thing I've done is just being trying to be a good friend and being there for people. And I'm sure there are things I'm not thinking of. One thing that I do ever since I lost my dad, I've I've always said this is a club no one wants to be in. When you lose a parent, it's it's just it sucks. And so whenever anyone I know loses a parent, I always try to reach out and and just tell them to, you know, give that, not just say advice, but I know how I know what they're going through. I know what those feelings are. I know how it resonates in your heart when you're dealing with it. And I just try to reach out and be that person because it's hard.
SPEAKER_01That that's what I will say is yeah, it's trying to like be there for people in those moments. Like, so I have, you know, I won't name names or anything, even though I don't think they even listen to this. What a good friend they are. They won't listen to my podcast, no, I'm kidding. Um but yeah, no, because I've been through that again. Like, I lost my mother to cancer at, you know, pretty young age. That was another thing because you talked about with like, you know, being older now than your dad was. That's what made this a lot of I'm I'll be the age my mother was when she passed next year. So it's very weird to me still in that. So it added a little stress to the stuff going on. But but you know, so having lost my my mother, and then my dad battling cancer himself last year, and luckily he's he made it through the other side and is cleared and everything's good. But so I I I get that, so a good friend of mine, her mother was in the hospital with some major health issues and stuff a couple years ago. Luckily, she's still around, she's still kicking, she made it through and is good. But I just remember being like, if you need to talk about anything, I'm here. But then also, uh besides just texting and and talking, I set myself up, I assigned myself the job of uh coffee and hug deliverer. I was like, because she just spent a lot of time at the hospital. So I was like, don't even it's like you're at the hospital with your mom. It's like, if you need a coffee, give me a text and I will head that way. If I'm free, it was like, you know, during the week, it's I was like, I will pick up a coffee and bring it to you and we will sit and talk. And I followed through on that a couple of times that like week or two.
SPEAKER_00Uh you can underestimate what that little thing, it may seem really small, but a hug is worth so much. I think sometimes we all take it for granted, but those little things mean a lot. And just knowing that someone is there and can just listen to you scream if you need to, or cry, or whatever. It's you can't put a price tag on that. Like it's so valuable. Yeah, we're getting so deep on this episode. It is not what I was expecting.
SPEAKER_01So you made me think of that a little bit. Because I don't like patting myself on the back anyway.
SPEAKER_00I have issue with that.
SPEAKER_01Uh I mean, not like it's a bad thing, it's just like, yeah, I don't know, people I have a problem taking a compliment. I think there's a lot of people who are like that. So then to like So that's one thing, but then to like compliment yourself and put yourself up. I was like, that just feels like I'm like, I don't I don't do that. Yeah. But yeah. Because my other option is like, well, I just spent so much talking about him, but I'm like, if you ask his parents, then everything I've done for Riley, which I feel like, I mean, he's done so much for me too, but like taking him from just like honestly, like kind of just the disabled kid that's like sitting around at home and like dealing with appointments and stuff to like giving him adventures and stuff that he looks forward and like opening up his world to like all of this like music and TV and different things that we get into together and stuff that like I keep him very entertained, and his parents will make sure to tell me constantly just how much of like an impact I've made on his life. So that feels good too.
SPEAKER_00Well, if you get the opportunity to see the two of you together, which I have a couple of times, it it's like you you the two of you synergize so well together. And it's amazing to see. Like before I met Riley, I just heard and I'd seen like on FaceTime or whatever, but to actually to have seen you together with him, it's just it's so obvious that you have a really fantastic connection. And you're right. I my first inclination when someone tells me I've done a good job is not to say, Thank you. It's well, this person over here did this, uh, or deflect onto someone else or somebody something else. Because I don't know how to be recognized for things like that. It just feels funny because I'm I usually am am deflecting to something else. Like I couldn't do it without my team or I couldn't and it's okay to do that, you know, to point that point that out, but it's also okay to accept the compliment. It's all right. But it feels weird. Because I'm kind of just thinking about other things. Like I don't focus on that or hone in on it. Alright, what are some of the life lessons you've taken from running your lives all these years? Double tap.
SPEAKER_01Um friends don't let friends watch for international movies with dubs.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely.
SPEAKER_01Is an important lesson from for running for our lives. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Listen to kids because a lot of times they have it right. And you need to listen.
SPEAKER_01Listen to science professionals because a lot of times they know what they're talking about, too. And that's not just for movies, that's in real life, also.
SPEAKER_00It is. Science exists for a reason. And when there's so much to back it up, you need to listen to it.
SPEAKER_02It's real.
SPEAKER_00You can't just say that it's fake when it's scientific evidence. We need to believe our people who are trained to be able to research and understand diseases, vaccines, all of those things. We need to believe it. We need to understand it, and it's important. Also, if you're a woman and you're going on an adventure, don't wear high heels. You're probably gonna need to run. And uh they make really fashionable cute sneakers now that you can wear instead.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Um standing on a plane runway and screaming your child's name on an island infested by dinosaurs is a really bad idea.
SPEAKER_00It's a really bad idea.
SPEAKER_01I know that one. Uh um.
SPEAKER_00If a clown knocks on your door. Oh, we haven't covered that one yet. Oh, but we have we have Pennywise. Um if if if a clown is yelling to you from inside a grate, rest in peace, Tim Curry. You probably shouldn't talk to it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Um great life lessons we've learned along the way here, I think.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, don't bury your pets who have passed away in ground that is not kosher.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, sometimes it is there.
SPEAKER_00Those are great lessons. I feel like um I don't know. I mean, right now the only thing that is popping into my head is Mark Wahlberg from you know where I'm going.
SPEAKER_01Oh god, yeah. Don't collect dolls that are obviously haunted.
SPEAKER_00It true. True. It's good advice. Um, not a good idea. Don't move into a house that has nefarious background. Um not good. We still haven't done Amity Villem. I feel like we need to. That's got a lot of lore to it, too. Practical effects are the best effects.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00Comedians make good movie directors. Jordan Peel, John Krasinski, Josh Rubin. Just a few. Just a few of them. Yeah, I think that's good. I think those are a lot of great lessons that you can learn. If you could make a horror movie, what would be the concept and who would you cast?
SPEAKER_01I was just thinking about this one, because I do I come like probably the same way a lot of like horror writers and directors come up with stuff is just like being in an experience or doing something, and then having a weird thought of like, well, what if this happened? And then you're like, well then I could write a whole thing. And I mean, but it's it's kind of like been done. I mean, as far as like, but it's because I was like, how do I differentiate it from like your normal like zombie movie or like weird outbreak? But it's like, because I'll have those words that it's like I was like, you know, sitting at like a red light, and then like some guy is like walking on the side of the street. And I just have this like a thing of like, what if he just like started bolting like as far like as fast as he could just towards the car and tried to get in? Like what you know, it's like Well that happened in weapons. I know, there's a lot of those, yeah. And so, like, I don't know, my movie would be like it's like not unless it's not like zombies or like and then you know, some things that we've covered and like watched are like within that realm, but it would be like people who are fully unaware of what they're doing, but like maybe it just like only lasts a few seconds and they just like lash out with like violence or like crazy, insane, like just impulses, and then they like come back to themselves like after just like 30 seconds and have no memory of it, and so it's like and it can just strike at any time randomly on different people, so like everybody's just kind of like on it. Other people. I don't know. Uh I don't know.
SPEAKER_00That sounds like a really messed up world, Peg, but it could make a great movie.
SPEAKER_01Exactly.
SPEAKER_00And who would you put in this movie?
SPEAKER_01Well, I don't know. If I made the movie, I don't know if I would be able to t talk about it on here. Probably. I don't know. But let's I mean, just some of our go-to favorites.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_01On this podcast. The people that we like. So, like, let's see, Samara Weaving and Lupita Niango are in that movie. With Christian Convrie.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01Yes. And I'll try to like co-write it with Mike Flanagan.
SPEAKER_00I wondered if you might do that. I think if I were to make a movie, it would definitely be post-apocalyptic shit's breaking down in a small town, but different. Like what would happen would be not necessarily zombie making, but brain altering. And Samar Weaving absolutely would have to be in it. But I also think I want to cast um Brendan Lee Mulligan.
SPEAKER_01There you go. Put him in another movie.
SPEAKER_00And Josh and Josh Rubin directs it. For real. Yeah. Chris watched Hard Eyes the other day. He actually really liked it.
SPEAKER_02Nice.
SPEAKER_00I said, good, there's another one coming. Oh, this is good. Um. What's an unknown artist you want to give more recognition to?
SPEAKER_01Hmm. See, my first instinct is to go to a few smaller bands and artists that like some people know, but they're like friends of mine. But a lot of them like aren't doing a whole lot right now.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So it's like, well, who's somebody who's like really like doing stuff right now that deserves more recognition? Um. Ooh, I know exactly who. Um. It is a British artist by the name of Crum. K-R-R-U-M.
SPEAKER_00Um Okay, I I remember you made a post, right? Was Crum in the post that you did? A while back? I don't know. You make so many.
SPEAKER_01I don't think so. Okay. Uh, because he put out an album what, 2018, 2019, something like that. It's been a little while. And then just dropped off the face of the earth. Uh, no new music, no touring, no posting on socials, just disappeared forever. And I was just like, so then I would go back and listen to that album, and it's like, it's one of my favorite albums. Uh, just the one debut album, and then that's it. And I was like, whatever happened to this guy? Uh and then randomly earlier this year, he just like, oh, here's a new song. And I was like, oh, yay! And then here's another one. Here's another one. My next album is coming out in like I think it comes out this month, sometime here in uh in September. Uh so like I'm looking forward to that now. So he's got new music, but yeah, it's like nobody, it's just he's just kind of like a smaller indie. Um kind of does, yeah, it's like electronic uh indie music with kind of like a uh not ri not like not RB, but he's just kind of got like a soulful pop kind of like tinge to it. Very British in some ways, too. Uh but uh so good. Um so that's that's my recommendation that I'd as an artist, I don't think anybody knows who that is, but go look up Crum. It's fantastic.
SPEAKER_00I feel like I thought you posted about it, but now I'm realizing you didn't. Um I'm this one is gonna be interesting, and if Levi is listening, he'll be like, oh, okay. So I um have been listening to this uh singer Gabriel Jane, and his last name is probably familiar for anyone who's seen Tremors, because he's actually the nephew of yeah. And his dad was also an actor, too. And Gabriel's doing some acting too, but he's got a really cool sound.
SPEAKER_01You say so the nephew of of Robert Jane.
SPEAKER_00Yes, the nephew of Robert Jane.
SPEAKER_01I've met Robert, I've hung out with Robert.
SPEAKER_00I know you have, yes.
SPEAKER_01Great dude.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, uh, he actually appeared on one of the Twitch streams that Gabriel did.
SPEAKER_01That's cool.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because Robert's son does some of the producing, and um Gabriel's dad also does producing on his music. And so they were out and about doing a very different thing that I've never really seen on Twitch, which is just running around to different places and hanging out. But yeah, so I somehow got hooked into it. I don't remember if uh it was on Facebook reels or whatever, but I really like his sound. It's it's really fun. And he does some rapping, but I really like like his pr really good like the produce stuff that's on Spotify. I really like. So I listen to that a lot. That's been one of my go-to's, I think, over the last couple weeks. So yeah, that's that's that's who I will promote. Him and his cousin PJ does a lot of the rap production work on that. So sometimes they'll pop on Twitch and do a cooking session, which is basically you know, building all the raps and stuff, so it's kind of cool. Oh boy, this is a good one. Who gives better hugs? Pake, Jerry, Daphne, or Jeff?
SPEAKER_01I mean, I'm sure I've hugged all of you, but probably you the most. So Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, um, it's so hard to have to pick between my Buffalo boys because I love them all, but probably Pake. I've hugged Pake the most. I see him the most, more than Jerry or Jeff. Unfortunately, I mean I would love to see them more. It just it's gonna be two years since I've seen them, and I've seen you like three times in between that.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, so so next month, Jeff and Jerry are really gonna have to like up their their account and hug game, and they'll have an opportunity to do it.
SPEAKER_00So they will. They'll have an opportunity, and I will be grading each one. I'll have a whiteboard, and I'll be keeping track of how many hugs and how good they were. And then at the end we'll we'll figure out who really is the king of hugs there. Because we always I'm the queen, so that's we already know that. Okay. Here's another fun one. What's a buffalo buffalo and how often does it run Feel lives?
SPEAKER_01Well, the actual answer, if we want to go with the like etymology, is that the right term? Because that's more for like a word, which buffalo, buffalo, buffalo, buffalo, buffalo, buffalo, buffalo, buffalo is a full sentence, but it also is one word just used in different ways. So kind of etymology. Um so based off of where the name of that podcast comes from, if anybody's ever heard that sentence before and knows the background and the uh history behind that, uh a buffalo buffalo would is a buffalo, the animal, or it could be an American bison, I assume it could also be. Um, that resides in the city of Buffalo, New York. Um, is its hometown, so it is a buffalo buffalo. It's a buffalo that lives in Buffalo. And how often does it run for its life? Um, more often than you would think because of the other buffalo buffalo that buffalo it.
SPEAKER_02Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_01And sometimes it gets tired of being buffaloed. Uh, and so it must run for its life away from the other buffalo buffalo in order to avoid being buffaloed by buffalo buffalo.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Thank you for coming to the explanation by P. I could never have explained it the way that you did. So I am going to just leave it there. Here's here's one that isn't so easy. Say five things that you love about each other and then end with one thing that you want them to be better at.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah. I feel like we've done something like that before.
SPEAKER_00I feel like we have two. What would I want Peg to be better at? I I'll do that part first just because I I don't I mean what would I want you to be better at? I I don't really have anything. Okay, so we went through a period of time where we were kind of late-get and starting with a recording, but that's not something that I feel you need to get better at. We just I it's not, yeah. Peike is perfect and he doesn't need to change anything. I mean, I feel like I got really lucky to have you as my partner in this podcast, and I don't really have I don't I mean yeah, I don't really have anything that I would say. And I feel like this whole episode we've talked about things that we that we love. Not specifically about each other, but like I like that I'll say this. When I need someone, you're always there. And you will, even if you're exhausted or busy, you'll make time to listen when I need it. When I really need it, you're there, and you're really supportive when I go through one of my quirky periods.
SPEAKER_01Five seems like, yeah, five seems like too much. I can't be that nice. I can't build her ego up that much. But you also said like two things to me, and then you can leave it there.
SPEAKER_00Come on, this isn't Buffalo Buffalo. You don't have to pretend that you don't like me. No, I'm just kidding.
SPEAKER_01Um, you didn't do five, so I don't have to do five.
SPEAKER_00Uh I could do more. You really push me outside my comfort zone sometimes, with especially with food and with other things, like with music and stuff. And I appreciate that so much because I need someone to push me because I won't sometimes I won't do it on my own. And also, you believe in me when sometimes I'm doubting myself, and I appreciate that too. Like those are just really good things. I mean, you're just you're just a really good person and a good friend.
SPEAKER_01Uh I would say for Daphne, uh, she's very uh empathetic and in tune and always willing to be there for you whenever you need to talk about something, or always willing to like listen and give a helping hand to anyone who needs a moment to talk. Uh I love that you when you put your mind to something, you go full in on it, and you make sure to put all of the effort and work and stuff into it and do it right and do it well. Um I love that you get excited about things so much uh that you like not just that you put the effort in, but you put the care and like love and excitement into things that you genuinely are excited about and enjoy, and we'll talk about them a lot and love to talk about them and share about them. You wicked smot uh and know too much about too many things. Uh so if I'm ever in a trivia jam, I know who to call.
SPEAKER_00Uh I'll be your phone a friend. And if I don't know, I can tell you who should be your phone a friend for various subjects.
SPEAKER_01And yeah, adventurous as well. That like, you know, you're not somebody who pushes back too much, which I don't know. Because you could take that in like a negative way or whatever. It's like you're easy to manipulate into doing things, but no, that's not what I mean. Uh but that you're somebody that's just like down for adventure and down for trying things and love to experience new things. And then yeah, the thing you can work on is like watching Dimension 20 on time. No. Um, is uh being able to be less hard on yourself and stop questioning that you don't uh whether you belong because you do in every circle that you're in.
SPEAKER_00Oh. That was really sweet. That's okay. Now we'll we'll get back to regularly scheduled Buffalo beatdowns.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00That was very mushroom.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, the next Buffalo episode, I'm gonna have to be really mean to you because I gotta make up for that.
SPEAKER_00I know, I know, I know, I know. I'm I'm curious. This is from Catherine, about Daphne's favorite top three trivia nights. Not necessarily the highest goals, but the most fun, memorable events. Okay. Number one, not a question at all. I've talked about it on this podcast. Getting to merge my worlds and have Pake, Ronaldi, and Randy on the same team with me, Amy, uh, David, and Elliot, and the night that we got the perfect game at Gritties is my number one favorite by a mile. Because it was just it was really special to have Paik in a place that I've talked about so many times, and to actually be there and and see like what it's really like and be part of it, and then for us to get the perfect game, well, it's not happened since, but it honestly, we're the only ones who have ever done it. Like no one else has ever gotten a perfect game, and so yeah, it means a lot. Uh, we've come close a few times, but it's always that last round that fucks us up. That's number one. As a collective, my birthday parties that I have there, I decided at one point that I would start celebrating birthday at Trivia. And for the first couple years, they had themes. One was Jurassic Park. Um, another one was walking down. There was a Game of Thrones one. And then they did a wrestling one. And for the wrestling one, um, my friend Amy reached out to Peg to find out who my favorite wrestlers were. And then they made all these decorations that were all wrestling themed, which it was super cool. Like little things on sticks, and I still have them. And Amy gave me a t-shirt that says it's Wednesday. Uh or Wednesdays are for um super kicks or something. It's it's really cool. Um it didn't fit when I got it, but it fits now. So I'm happy. It's funny because with trivia, I'm a really competitive person. And trivia going to trivia, I started going because um my cousin was diagnosed with early onset dementia when she was in her mid-40s. And I just really got focused on keeping my brain active. And so I started doing trivia then. It's been 11, 11 years, and um super competitive. I used to be incredibly high strung about it. And then the pandemic happened and I couldn't go. And so long story short, I love to win, yes, but for me, honestly, it's the time I get with my friends every week that means the most. It's memories. So yeah, number one, having that perfect game with the coolest people. Sorry, Duncan, I know you're not listening, but I wish you had been able to be there that night. Um and then my birthday parties are my favorite, especially those themed ones. Um and then I don't really have a third favorite because it's really just every week and just getting to be with my friends that means the most. So it's you know, we've been doing it for 11 years in December, and it's most of the same people. And it just means a lot to be able to be with everyone. Elliot told me it's how he gets it's the only time he leaves the house most of the time. So it's kind of cool. So I hope that helps, Catherine. What song do you have on repeat right now?
SPEAKER_01Uh, quite a few.
SPEAKER_00Quite a few.
SPEAKER_01But I don't really have like I don't do that often. I don't have like one song that I it's like albums and then like different playlists and stuff, but I don't really like focus on one song too much. A lot of Andy Grammar songs I've been listening to a lot more lately, just the mindset and also getting ready for the show.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely.
SPEAKER_01So like 85 is probably my favorite by him right now. It's a really good one. Um Beartooth's new album just came out, so I've been jamming those. Those are really good. Uh free. It was the first single, but it's really great. Um And then going back to that, the party song by Emory, which is an older one, has been in my head a lot lately, and I had to just like listen to that the other day. But yeah.
SPEAKER_00Well, I already said that I've been listening to a lot of Gabriel Jade, but um, there are a couple other I've been listening to this cover, Bad Romance, which is by Lauren Babbage. And it has uh Bill Murray, too. Like there, it's it's a great like cover, like duet. I love it. Um anything by Bryce Fox, I'm really digging right now. And this song has just it's become my walk to trivia song, like when I have my headphones on when I'm walking down the street. Um Always Let You Down by Bill Murray. Like I've just been on a Bill Murray kick lately. It's it's just been and you know what I only know about Bill Murray because of Pake, because he introduced me to a lot of music. So yeah, those are my my go-tos right now. I've once I get a song if we it's kind of funny, but if we are winning, I listen to the same song, Walking to Trivia, every week until we lose, and then I pick a different song. And so for like four weeks it's been always let you down. And it's just gonna keep being that until anything changes. Let's see. Who was your favorite wrestler?
SPEAKER_01Oh, like music. That's hard because there's a lot of different styles and a lot of different people that are great at different things.
SPEAKER_00Um It's really hard. Like I I can't I can't say one. Although my favorite wrestler now is different than it was. For a long time, it was the same person.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But somebody else passed him on the list.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's still I mean, I probably just in general, like overall, uh probably Brody King. But but there's so many with different styles and different things that like I'm always excited to to see. So I don't know. That's so I get have to give a definitive answer. Probably Brody King takes that spot, but like he's up there with a whole menagerie of other people.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I'm always thinking about like my top five, and my favorite is Kenosuke Takeshta. Has been for a little while. He was always up there, but he passed Darby, who is also someone I really love, Darby Allen, um, Brody King, Bandito, and Jack Perry. But I also like there are so many that I really like enjoy, and and it's different because like there are people at Limitless, which is the local promotion I go to that I really love. Um Amber and Aggro and Yeah. Like there's just so many cool people. It's hard to pick a favorite.
SPEAKER_01Kind of like depends on like styles, because like my favorite luchador right now is mascarodorata.
SPEAKER_00Oh, amazing. I'll always like be happy to watch.
SPEAKER_01Amazing, which I got to see last night. Last night. Uh and yeah, but then like on like technical side of stuff, like Kylo Riley, for sure. Um Yeah, but there's others just like I'm always happy to see. Uh even just like heels that I know I'm gonna have a really good time. Like MJF, I'm gonna have the best time ever anytime he's on screen. So like I'm all about that. Uh and then of course he this is this is like a tangent just for wrestling people. Uh Kofi is now in AEW, and I got to see his dynamite debut match last night in person, and it was fantastic. And so I've loved Kofi forever. So now that he's all elite, uh definitely so.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. You got to see him against the rascals.
SPEAKER_01Yes, and I love me too. Oh, I love the rascals.
SPEAKER_00Oh my gosh. I I love the luchador style, I like the high flying style. Like, that is my favorite. Um, I like the acrobatics. I will not get over Andrade from the top rope at the pay-per-view because he just that killed me. Was so amazing. Yeah, the different styles. I mean, I don't generally like heels at all. Like, really. Not in shoes either. Just putting it out there. But I love Tecla. Like I think she's incredible.
SPEAKER_01I've been on a big Zeta steel kick right now, lately. Yeah. Very into Zeta.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I think it really it really depends. Especially in what they're doing in the ring, but also what their character, like what character they've built. So it's complicated. It's not so simple as just saying, oh, I love what they do. Brody King for so many reasons that I would need a novel to write down. Why? Um Yeah. Brody's so he's such a good human. He's such a good human. Um, okay, we let's see. Levi says, What are you doing after the show? I got tickets to Tremus for after the show. I'm probably gonna play a little Tomodachi and edit this podcast. Yeah, probably that's what I'm doing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, what are you doing?
SPEAKER_01Tomodachi might watch some more wrestling. I might watch some other stuff. I'm trying to finish catch up on lanterns and been watching a lot of Taskmaster, so I'll probably watch some of those. But Levi, I saw what you did there with the question, and that is hilarious. I love that. Uh yeah, so maybe I'll maybe I'll I'll I'll I'll check in with you and go watch Tremors for. I guess these the tickets are for seeing it in the theater, because it'd be nice to actually watch that movie in the theaters and remember any of it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that was the time. Um I'm still waiting for there to be another Tremors Fest that I could go. Like, I want to go. There needs to be one. Levi, can you get can you get that figured out?
SPEAKER_01I think we've I think that story's been told on here before. Uh. Yeah, Tremors Fest is because we watched all of the movies, but yeah, the night that we did four, I was way too stoned. And I I watched the movie, sort of. I was there physically.
SPEAKER_00Uh what about the people that were talking so much?
SPEAKER_01I don't know where I was. Um to the point that like literally I, you know, woke up in my hotel bed later that night and was like, well, I made it back to the hotel, that's good. Uh and so like the next day when we did like five, six, and seven or whatever, uh, yeah, Levi and Caitlin and and some other people, like, where did you go last night after the movie? And it's like, I don't know. I went to a whole other plane of existence, is where I went.
SPEAKER_00Uh that's a great way to describe it. Yeah, that's a great way to describe it.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so we have a couple more questions from Levi, but they're all part of one. It's kind of like a this or that. Yeah. Uh boobs or butts?
SPEAKER_01Oh, we're gonna do that. Yeah, I I think okay, you answer.
SPEAKER_00Why am I gonna answer? Why aren't you answering?
SPEAKER_01We're both gonna answer.
SPEAKER_00We're both gonna answer. I guess butts. I'm not really into boobs.
SPEAKER_01I'm a butt guy too. Me and Daphne are both butt guys.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god. Oh man. Uh butter or bacon?
SPEAKER_01Um, butter.
SPEAKER_00Butter, yeah. I love bacon, but yeah, butter. Bacon or gr bacon or gross?
SPEAKER_01Um, well, I've met Michael Gross, so I've had you know an interaction with him, and he was a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful man and magical. So I could say that, but also I could go with bacon because I have yet to meet Kevin Bacon and I would love to.
SPEAKER_00So I have to go with Michael Gross. I have to go with Michael Gross. I do. And I grew up at a time that Kevin Bacon was the jam.
SPEAKER_01But bacon jam? It's great on a burger.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Uh Daphne or Paik? We I feel like we've been happy. And I'm Daphne.
SPEAKER_01Alright. And this is Bit No.
SPEAKER_00Um salsa or queso?
SPEAKER_01Queso.
SPEAKER_00Probably queso. I don't really like salsa at all, and I've never had queso.
SPEAKER_01What? Queso.
SPEAKER_00What? I haven't.
SPEAKER_01How am I just now? The amount of times you've been to Texas, that's getting fixed next month 100%. That is being remedied. I'm gonna find I'm going to do some research to find who has the best queso in Fort Worth, and then we're making that at. That's that's officially part of the plans of that week, you know.
SPEAKER_00God I knew. I knew if I said anything that you were gonna take that and run with it.
SPEAKER_01You didn't try some of my queso when we went to Velvet Taco like forever ago? Which theirs is a little different because they do like a curry queso, so it's kind of very hipster-y. I would I would make sure I say would will make sure next month that we we try I try to find just like the most uh like authentic, great, like uh classic queso. But oh my god. Where where have I gone wrong in life with that?
SPEAKER_00Do you no? You've done really well. Think about all the things I have tried that I don't even know the names of, but I tried them anyway. I've tried so many things. Oh my god. Drinks, food. It's just yeah. Um, hot or cold? Cold. If we're talking about weather, absolutely cold. Cold. I'm down with that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, if we're talking about weather, cold all the way. We're talking about curry, hot, obviously.
SPEAKER_00Did you enjoy these questions with about 10 S's? Um yeah, actually, they were pretty fun. These are pretty good. And then there's one last one from Catherine. After reading Levi's questions, I thought of these. What's your favorite meal to eat and your favorite meal to cook? Um, I hate cooking.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, same. Um my favorite meal to cook is oatmeal, because that's easy. And I found, because I had some dental work done recently, so I could only eat very soft foods for like two or three days. Uh, and I've unlocked the greatest, because I I don't cook, so it's like the instant microwaveable stuff is where I door dash way too much. Um but I had the protein, like the Quaker instant oatmeal, but it was like the protein oatmeal, and I got the banana nut Quaker protein oatmeal. And then, of course, you don't use water, you do the milk in the oatmeal and stir it up and microwave it. And then I would add a spoon of peanut butter and mix it into that after. Oh my god.
unknownYep.
SPEAKER_00Yes, it sounds fantastic.
SPEAKER_01Although I am, I'm still working on trying to get a house bot and figured out in the next however long. And I would when I once I have like an actual kitchen, uh I'd like to maybe try a little bit more stuff. I've been planning, um I have to get a grill and stuff, but I want to try my hand. I'm not gonna do it now because I don't have the space or a kitchen or a grilling area. I want to try my hand at elote hot dogs.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Basically.
SPEAKER_01It's like Mexican street corn. So I would would take so you do like the you know, the cre you grill corn, like the street corn, and then with the whole corn on the cob grilled, then you slather it in like mayonnaise and cotiha cheese, and then like some like some like sometimes like tahine or like a like chili powder or something, a little spice, and then you hit it with some like Valentina hot sauce. But what I would do, so you make hot dogs or whatever, and then just the toppings for the hot dogs is you grill the whole corn, and then you cut the corn kernels, grilled corn, off of the calm, and then you mix it in a big bowl of like mayo and cotiha and valentina and stuff, and then just that kind of like corn creamy, street corn mixture, and then put that on top of the hot dogs, and then some cilantro or something on there. That's what I want to try to do. That that's like a specialty that I have in mind. I'm gonna try to get real good at that.
SPEAKER_00So if that's an acceptable use for cilantro.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But some people don't like cilantro.
SPEAKER_01Some people are defective, yes. Uh Hi, Jeff. They can't help it. I uh yeah, so that but favorite meal to eat, that's again, Daphne said I'm a big foodie, so like he is hard. It depends on the mood that I'm in. But for the most part I think 'cause I I mentioned last meals that show, because also besides interviewing them, is they also get to pick all these courses of their favorite foods, and they go course to course and like they eat a bunch of food while talking. And a lot of food that is tied to life experiences or memories or just their favorites. And so watching a lot of those, I'm like, what would be my last meals episode? Like, what foods would I have to have in there? Uh and so I I know like Thai curry is probably that's my go-to like comfort meal. I always know I'm gonna just like be comforted and warm on the inside and now the in in my tummy and my heart uh with with a Thai curry. That's probab so that's probably my favorite food is a is like a either Penang or Masaman Thai curry.
SPEAKER_00For me, there are a number of things. One, a Becky's crab roll, which I'm really craving right now. Two pizza from Lowe's, which is this not the a hardware store. Not a hardware store. Um this isn't like Costco and they've got like a food thing. Um, it's uh a little convenience store, and I just love their pizza. And the third one is the best quesadilla I've ever had, and that is from Mascara in the Dallas area. I want a quesadilla from there again. Shrimp, cilantro, cheese was so fucking good, and I just want one again. And that's a go-to, like so much so that I think about it.
SPEAKER_01So we may have to make a trip back down to Mascaras when we I think we have to.
SPEAKER_00I think we have to. I mean, we have told Jeff and Jerry that it was a you know, we've told them about it. So I feel like we're gonna get to it's funny because I've been to Dallas enough times where I know places that are good just because we've gone there. So I'm excited to get to show Jeff and Jerry this magical place.
SPEAKER_01And there's some Cali Latino boys, so they'll enjoy it.
SPEAKER_00I think so, right? Yeah. Oh my gosh. So we have gotten through all of the questions.
SPEAKER_01We did.
SPEAKER_00It's amazing. We did it. This episode, I'll cut around it, but it's longer than I thought it was gonna be. Uh um, but there isn't there's not a lot for me to reduce from it. But Pate, guess what? I have decided.
SPEAKER_02Huh.
SPEAKER_00We're gonna spin the wheel to find out what movie we're doing next week.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I thought we were gonna do Whisperman. But all right, I'll I'll spin the wheel and we can do that the next.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01Because I like spinning the wheel, we haven't done it in a while.
SPEAKER_00We haven't, and I was thinking about this the whole time.
SPEAKER_01So we'll do it. We can hold off another week on that one. Because wheels are fun.
SPEAKER_00What you want to do the wheel for next week?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00So we'll do it for next okay, okay.
SPEAKER_01Uh as long as the movie is findable somewhere. Uh so I'll make sure. Of that, because I have a lot of movies on here. Some of them haven't come out yet. Some of them I'm just like, oh, that would be cool, and I add it, but the it's not available anywhere. So I'll double check on some stuff. But here's the rule if we're spinning on the podcast, you don't get the three and then you pick from one. We just go with what it is.
SPEAKER_00Yes. And here's the thing with it. Um midsummer we've already done. So I feel pretty good. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Now there's still a I might have to re-spin there as a caveat because, like I said, there's a good little chunk of movies on here that I don't know we'll actually have access to immediately. But I'll double check. So here we go. There's no sound, because I silence all the sounds on my phone because I don't want them.
SPEAKER_00Me too.
SPEAKER_01Speaking of, I don't want to hear it. Speaking of that, the movie that can comes up is called The Silence.
SPEAKER_00Oh.
SPEAKER_01And I think it's on Netflix.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, let me go. Let's look and make sure. Oh yeah. That was the Quiet Place movie that came out that was like Quiet Place.
SPEAKER_01Yes, it's Deadly Creatures Who Hunt by Sound. Uh but there's uh a cult and things involved too. So it's like Quiet Place, but not. Um it's got a 5.4 on IMDB, but 30% of the best watch.
SPEAKER_00Uh I have seen it.
SPEAKER_01Rotten Tomatoes is not nice to it.
SPEAKER_00No, no, no, no. 30%.
SPEAKER_01But it's got Stanley Tucci.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Kieran Shipka, who's good. Miranda Otto. John Corbett.
SPEAKER_01You know, good fan family member of the esteemed Evelyn Tucci, of course.
SPEAKER_00Yes. Oh man.
SPEAKER_01So uh yeah, that looks like that's what we're getting.
SPEAKER_00So it is. It'll be easy for our listeners to find.
SPEAKER_01And then we'll stick with Netflix because I think there's a new movie that just dropped this week uh as we're recording this called The Whisper Man, which is based off of a novel and stuff. And it's got Adam Scott and Robert De Niro. Uh so that was what I was kind of planning on doing, and then Daphne sprung this wheel idea, and I was like, actually, that's more fun. Let's do the wheel. And then we can do that one the next week. Right. We've got we've got plenty of episodes left in the season to fill.
SPEAKER_00Actually, we don't, but that's okay. No, we don't. Pake. Actually, this is 267.
SPEAKER_016'7?
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_01No, it's not 267.
SPEAKER_00We have seven movies left to do. That's it. I was trying to figure out if there was a way that we would be at our look back special or riffle awards, like around the time we were in Fort Worth, but we'd have to double up and I think we're we're good.
SPEAKER_02All right.
SPEAKER_00Well, this was great. Thank you everyone who sent in your questions. We had such a great time answering them. Yeah, we'll be back next season with another one of these, but um until then. Uh there's no feedback phone.
SPEAKER_01No, I unhooked, I unplugged it because we got plenty of feedback in the episode in the form of questions. So I can't handle any more this week.
SPEAKER_00No. No. And we don't have any feedback. Do you know why? Because we didn't ask you for any.
SPEAKER_01We already did feedback when you sent questions in for this episode. Yes.
SPEAKER_00And we hope that you enjoyed it. Let us know what you think. If you liked hearing us answer your questions, I thought it was super fun to get to hear from you guys and see what you might like us to answer. So for me, it was a lot of fun. Um, we will be back with a movie next week.
SPEAKER_01And you already know what it is.
SPEAKER_00And you already know what it is.
SPEAKER_01So we spun the wheel a minute ago, which was a week ago for us. Time is crazy. We time travel.
SPEAKER_00Yes, we do all the time. Superpowers. So you can send us feedback on this episode. We'll we'll read it next week. You can find us on the podcastica discord. It's it's somewhat active. We have a Run for Your Lives channel there. You can also find us on Facebook and Instagram at Run for Your Lives Podcast, or you can email us at RunFoo Your Lives Podcast at gmail.com. If you're enjoying the show, tell your friends we are available on all other podcast players, including Apple, Spotify, YouTube, and more. As always, you can go to RunFo Your Lives Podcast.com for all the links that you're ever going to need, and give us a review on Apple Podcasts. That is the best way to share the love and get us out there even more. We really appreciate it.
SPEAKER_01We absolutely do. Um, and of course, speaking of sharing the love, you know, gotta give those shout outs to things going on in the Podcastica universe around us and beyond. A lot of great stuff for you to check out. The Walking Dead cast, of course, the coverage of Walking Dead, Dead City. Uh season three has wrapped, so you can go back and check out all the coverage of that season. Um I stopped watching pretty much anything, Walking Dead, uh uh a little bit. Maybe I'll go back and re-recheck out a lot of stuff, uh, because I've heard from just like about everybody that this season was actually really, really, really, really good.
SPEAKER_00So yeah. I've actually heard it from people who didn't like the show. They were watching it just because they're completionists and trying to stay in that universe, but they really feel like this season was really good.
SPEAKER_01Which is awesome. I'm glad to hear. So yeah, are one of those people you stuck around, you've loved it, and haven't checked out the coverage over on Walking Deadcast, make sure you do that. Ben and Alex rocked all of that all season. They've done all three seasons of that, I think, too. So yeah, they have go check out their coverage there. Um and then we've got a bonus episode over there for those who watch the Apple TV series Silo. Uh kind of a back half of season three coverage, episode six through ten. Uh bonus episode on that feed over there with Jason, Veronica, and Amelie covering the back half of the last season of Silo. They kind of have been covering that show in halves after they come out. So if you watch that one as well, go get some good coverage of that over there. Then on Casting Light, uh, Jason, Kirk, and Jim covering uh Lanterns, the HBO uh series, the DC series there, uh about Green Lantern and stuff, which I'm also keeping up with that week to week. I have been watching that one. Even I'm I'm not a huge DC person. I'm definitely Camp Marvel if I have to make that choice. Me too. Lanterns has been fantastic. It's been such an incredible show. And honestly, this most recent episode, episode five, I honestly, it ended, and I had to check to make sure that wasn't the season finale because it felt like a season finale. It's oh wow. Intense and huge and insane, and the things that happened, only to go like, oh no, there's still like three episodes left. I don't know how the hell they're gonna do that. Uh, where do they go from there? Um, but definitely if there's any episode to get some uh coverage and thoughts on, then definitely episode five here is the one to go check that out. Uh no spoilers, but if you're watching lanterns, then yeah, you know what an episode. Um so give that a listen as well. Also, another Apple TV series, Widow's Bay, uh, which we me and Daphne have both watched it. I watched I binged a lot of it, and then I watched like the last like three or four episodes as they came out. And oh god, I just immediately fell in love with that show. It was so good. And now's a good time to be talking about it because they just got like all the Emmys.
SPEAKER_00So cool to see that. I feel like the Emmy Awards this this year were especially in that category with Widows Bay taking so much of it, it just made me think, oh, finally the award shows are are rewarding the shows that I like.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Because often I feel like oh, they're not really paying attention, but this was great to see all that love. And it's filmed not far from where I live.
SPEAKER_01Which is cool. It was very cool.
SPEAKER_00It's pretty amazing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so fantastic show. So if you haven't watched it yet, now is definitely the time. And if you did watch it and want to revisit it, then definitely go over to the uh podcast Everything's Fine here on podcast because they're gonna be going back uh through the episodes of Widows Bay and breaking that down. And if I know Jason, because it's gonna be Jason and Karen on that one. If I know Jason the way I know it, I know Jason. Uh shouldn't be spoiler or anything. They'll try to keep it spoiler-free episode to episode. So if you're watching along for the first time, I think you should be safe. Maybe go check it out over there to be certain about that. But I probably I believe it's usually Jason's uh MO.
SPEAKER_03Yes. Absolutely.
SPEAKER_01So if you haven't watched it, watch it and follow along. Uh expect those episodes to start coming out in the next few weeks. So probably about mid-October. So stay tuned. That's going to be a great one. Uh but yeah, other than that, outside of Podcastica or beyond, as I hinted at, more lanterns coverage, of course, over with our friends TV Podcast Industries. And then our good friends over on the Pirate Core Entertainment Podcast Network. The Vampcast over there on Pirate Core Entertainment, uh, covering Vampireless. Uh Lara, Becky, Billy, and Mark doing that with episode seven this week. You can go get that coverage there. So a lot of great stuff for you to check out. And then this usually be like, and then if you want to come back here, oh I will say Buffalo Buffalo. Always plug that. If you want more of me and Daphne, there is a Buffalo Buffalo podcast. You can go listen to us over there with our friends Jeff and Jerry, goofing around, playing games, being silly. Uh always a blast. Uh, but yeah, this is usually where I would say then if you want to come back here next week, what are we gonna be doing? But we spun the wheel earlier. You know what we're doing.
SPEAKER_00Uh we did. We definitely did. So if you somehow missed it, we are gonna be discussing John R. Leonetti's 2019 film, The Silence.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Which interesting, interesting. As we spun the wheel earlier. Again, we time travel, so it's crazy because we spun the wheel earlier and we were like, oh, that's gonna be good. Now we're talking about it, we've already covered it. It happened. And these like few minutes since we did the spun the wheel, we've watched the whole movie and talked about it. We are crazy good and efficient with time like that. We managed to do it. We do.
SPEAKER_00It helps us in many ways. And you know what? If you if the name John Arleonetti sounds familiar, it's because we also covered Annabelle this season and he directed that one as well.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So uh go check that one out and be back here next week for the coverage of that. We'd love to know your thoughts if you check that one out. It's on Netflix, so yeah. We're covering a few Netflix movies this season. Yeah, we've got another one coming up in a couple weeks, so we're cranking it out.
SPEAKER_00And with that, we've reached the end of another fun episode. This one was especially fun because it was just us talking, chatting, answering your questions.
SPEAKER_01No pesky movies getting into it.
SPEAKER_00No, no prep. Sometimes you just have to say no to prep.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Like, no preparation, I just need to talk. It's funny because I think people think that's what podcasting is, and in some ways it can be, but podcasts like this, you have to prep. You have to watch the movie. You can't come in and be like, oh yeah, we're talking about a movie. Oh, we were supposed to watch that. No, that doesn't happen. Can't do that. Thanks everyone for listening. I'm Daphne.
SPEAKER_01And I'm Pate.
SPEAKER_00And if you have to run, you better run for your lives.
SPEAKER_01Bye-bye.
